J.K. Rowling is brilliant

For those of you who know me, you already know how I feel about Jo (as her friends call her), and can imagine how hard it was for me to resist the temptation of making my very first post about her. Alas, I could not hold off any longer...

Yes, she wrote Harry Potter, which in my opinion is clearly destined to become a classic (and really already is), she is also an interestingly intelligent individual. For some insight into what I'm talking about I would recommend reading her Harvard commencement speech (seriously Bee-rilliant!).

A fun added note, in case you haven't heard, she is finally publishing her books in e-book format (woohoo!). If you haven't read the Harry Potter series (yes, I'm blogging to adults), you are missing something incredible, and this will be your chance to understand what the rest of the world is raving about on your Kindle or iPad. If you have read it, you'll probably want to reread it. Look on her new website to get the full scoop, www.pottermore.com and this is why: there will be some new content (OMG level of amazing!!!).

Some of the many reasons I love the Harry Potter series, are the same ones East of Eden (by John Steinbeck) is my favorite novel of all time. These books contain good and evil, compassion and treachery, complicated characters and difficult choices, all the while managing to keep us hooked with a compelling plot. Messy like real life, and just as uniquely breathtaking. That's just how I feel. Enjoy!
